Principal Welcome Letter
I am humbled and honored to serve and work with students at Avalon K8 as your campus principal. Our staff looks forward to meeting all of you and working alongside of you with your children and the community of Apache Junction. I can assure you that I share in this school high level of community dedication to care for our students every day while providing them with a challenging and meaningful educational environment.
Professionally, I have over 20 years of experience in the field of education in both district and charter schools and have held numerous positions throughout my career starting as a Paraprofessional while working my way through college to become a classroom teacher in the Mesa school district. I made the switch to Avalon in 2013 to work as a 6th-grade teacher. Over the years at Avalon, I have worked to make sure the students and teachers had what they needed to be successful. In 2020 I was promoted to be an Instructional Coach to improve teacher performance and to advance instructional practices throughout the school. In 2021, during the high of the pandemic, I was promoted to Dean of Students and have truly enjoyed learning and working with the teachers, students, and parents over the last year. Given all that I have done during my career I feel I have a special understanding of the needs of our students. I can honestly say that I love working with all students to provide them with the best learning opportunity.
One of the most important aspects of my role here at Avalon is to build strong relationships with our students, families, and staff. I am very passionate about how students learn best and look forward to this opportunity to grow together as a community of lifelong learners. With that in mind, you can expect that I will work diligently with our teachers to make sure our students are exposed to rich educational experiences that are both engaging and challenging for our scholars.
